About us

We have been based in Madagascar (Sambava) since 2012. Our main activities are the cultivation and processing of green vanilla and other spices for the local and international market. Our vanillas are exported to the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Renowned on the international market as a producer, preparer and exporter of vanilla and other local products, Ets Mayan Vanille owes its reputation thanks to:

  • 02 processing depots located in Sambava and Maroantsetra;
  • 50 permanent and 150 temporary employees;
  • affiliation with about fifty planters associations;
  • 24 hectares of plantations with more than 40,000 vines;

The family business also invests a lot in development in the provinces where our associations are located by participating in local projects in order to improve the quality of life of our planters:

  • Rehabilitation of schools, wells for drinking water, solar kits and small essential infrastructure;
  • Training in improving the quality of processing and production of products locals with agronomists from Antananarivo …

Specificities of vanilla from Madagascar

Madagascar vanilla beans are considered the benchmark for quality vanilla beans in the spice world. The humid northeast corner of Madagascar, known as the SAVA region, produces the majority of the best vanilla beans in the world. The abundant rains and the fertile, loamy soil create optimal conditions for these delicate plants. While the conditions for growing vanilla in SAVA, Madagascar are near perfect, it is the people of Madagascar who make this regional spice so special.
The art of growing and drying quality vanilla beans is done entirely by hand. Vanilla grown outside its country of origin has no natural pollinators. Each vanilla orchid flower should be gently hand pollinated.
